Forai fosters a sense of dignity by tapping into the desire for creativity and productivity, equipping artisans with skills in jewelry-making or sewing. Crafting Forai jewelry and textiles gives opportunity for income generation while caring for the needs of family -- overcoming common barriers for refugee and immigrant women (childcare, language, health, transportation). Each year Forai walks alongside 20-30 women who take part in community sewing classes. Forai works to foster dignity and help these women’s stories be heard. They help empower them economically with income earned from their work. And Forai creates community, a space where women from different backgrounds and cultures are mutually giving and receiving.
